Default Desperate to learn GEMPAK

Hello,
I been laying low for awhile because of on going back problems but, that's beside the point. Does anyone know of any tutorials that i can understand for GEMPAK? I went and purchased the version for windows without knowing a damn thing about it.
The online documentation is confusing to me anyway. I would appreciate any suggestions as this seems like a incredible program to learn.
thanks,
Carl

I bought it from skywatch services and it uses vmware player, it also comes with some scripts installed.
I know Rob Dale is a man with a good reputation so hopefully i can get it going and run it with his scripts installed.

are you kidding me ????????
he is charging $120.00 !!!!!!!
man I'm in the wrong business..

I know how to map under Linux..
but doing it under Vmware/Win I'd have to read his instructions
these are GEMPAK created
http://www.michiganwxsystem.com/satellite.php

another thing.. I dont think GEMPAK has ftp or http support
so unless your continually fed via NOAAport, like I am,
you will need to get the raw data into your system

This is where i purchased this from http://skywatch.org/gempak/gempak.htm
I am not getting it to show any information at all although it has some scripts built in?

GEMPAK INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Copy files from DVD
2. Install the VMWare Player (if not already on your system)

http://vmware.com/download/player/
3. Install the 7zip archiver (won’t interfere with regular .zip files)
4. Right-click over the GEMPAK_Skywatch.7z.001, and select “Extract Here”

1. Run VMWare Player
2. Browse to the directory where you extracted and select the GEMPAK_Skywatch machine
3. Done! Data will automatically start flowing, but it may take a while for things when you first
start it up.

Suggestions:
. Pull down the VMWare Player menu, select Preferences, and “When Exiting – Power Off”
. Under the same menu, select Troubleshoot – Change Memory Allocation. It will suggest how
much memory to dedicate, obviously the more you use the better, I recommend about half of
your full memory.

Startup Help:
NMAP2 is your primary program to view data. For a quick tutorial, check
http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software...rial/nmap.html
To get started, wait about 15 minutes for basic surface and radar data to download. Then start nmap2,
click DATA / RESTORE DATA SETTINGS and you will see a several macros in the bottom which you can
use right away. SummaryObsRadar shows current conditions on loop 1, pull down the loop button (top
middle) and you’ll have a national radar summary.
Additional scripts for model / satellite / NEXRAD / etc. will be usable as data arrives.
Main username (not needed since it automatically logs in): gempak Password: *******
Root password (in case system changes are needed): ********

Yes, exactly about the script not downloading no data.
I am running Bitdefender as my firewall so i'll double check to see if a setting might not be correct.

Update: It was the firewall, all is working now that it was replaced as I could not configure it not to block internet.
Thank's for your assistance I appreciate it.
